Parcel

You're gonna call me on it one of these days Why I don't respond when you mention her name When our friends see you together, showered in acclaim Hydroplaning on a neighborhood lane

Why are we listening to this playlist in my car? The one she made for you of songs I think are subpar Looking for excuses to pull you into a sidebar Pull you into my arms Find a way back in your heart

That's not you You wanted someone with a little more life in them That's not you Not someone you invite back in when they've been condemned That's not you You wanted someone with a drive or at least a goal in mind That's not you That's not you

Summer's end scraped my knees Puts me through the wringer to come out clean A salmon sky every night But nothing or no one could flush my cheeks this pink I don't want to talk to you anymore I'll be waiting like a parcel at your door Silent on the steps Couldn't hear the bell over the sound of my chest hitting the floor

They always said you don't end up with the girl For whom you stop the world Is there a part of you that's a little concerned Or am I finishing this race a poor third?

You're painting her nails off to the side of the function We're watching a movie that needs no introduction We're singing and dancing and she's acting sunken She doesn't know it, I'm not trying to pass judgement, but

(Fuck you for wearing my clothes when she takes them off) (Why couldn't you tell me when you'd caught your own fall?) (Fuck you for making me bleed out on the balcony) (And moving forward to loving someone who looks just like me)

A pissed off part of me wants to open a wound Postpone the visit I planned and not ever follow through Angry is something so easy to be When I see you, cue the fumes I'm a short lit fuse that fuels off of agony

That's not you I'm going off assumptions, or maybe I don't know you at all That's not you If you were coming around, you wouldn't let me face plant when I fall That's not you I could've given you everything she does and so much more Maybe it's you Maybe it's you
