Thorns

Your song was new when I sang The only reassurance I've had is pain Oh I remember the palms of your hands How they glowed from within Did my scars truly heal Or are they only hidden beneath my skin My love unrequited because My trust remains to be given I was a king of earth, but a king no more I was a king of earth, when your voice shook the floor "Accept that you suffer Let go of your throne Even when you are alone Beautiful vines On a crown that you mourn To find trust requires thorns" Lead me to the water but all is unclear In new verses, I only hear what I want to hear The only reassurance I've had is pain
