Potential

You don't want my love, you just need attention It's my time to go, I know your intentions No more back and forth, I don't want this tension I won't hold on, I was in love with your potential

You said all the things I needed to hear At the moments I was ready to leave Always knew how to pull me back in Never knew how to give anything

I stayed even when it felt one-sided You make distance feel like affection Now I know I was chasing a feeling, mm Not the person standing in front of me

And I can't keep losing sleep Over somebody changing every week You pull me close just to let me leave And I'm too tired to chase what you don't mean

You don't want my love, you just need attention It's my time to go, I know your intentions No more back and forth, I don't want this tension I won't hold on, I was in love with your potential

Your potential, love with your potential, mm Your potential, mm

I was trying to find us in the silence While you kept one foot out the door Every sorry sounded automatic Like you said it all a hundred times before

Now the space between us feels different Kinda hurts, but I can finally breathe Funny how the person I was scared to lose Wasn't even holding on to me

(Baby, I ignored every warning) your potential, love with your potential, mm (Now I know the hardest kind of heartbreak) your potential, mm

Baby, I ignored every warning 'Cause I wanted it to work so bad Now I know the hardest kind of heartbreak It's grieving something you never had

You don't want my love, you just need attention It's my time to go, I know your intentions No more back and forth, I don't want this tension I won't hold on, I was in love with your potential
